Sacraments

Baptism:

The Church shares the joy of families in the birth of Children and with their parents takes seriously the responsibility of bringing them up in the faith.  Parents seeking baptism for their children are to attend Baptismal Preparation Class, held the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall. Baptisms are held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 12:30 p.m.  Parents should be registered members of the parish.  Godparents, those who represent the Church in the life of the child, must be practicing Catholics.  If they are married, they must have been married in the Church in order to obtain a sponsor certificate from their home parish.  Godparent sponsor letters must be presented prior to scheduling the Baptism date.  Please Godparents with these criteria in mind.

Adults for the sacrament of Baptism will be required to attend the RCIA process. Please contact Fr. Mark Devlin for more information.

Confirmation:

Children are instructed for this Sacrament in Holy Family School and in our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.). Parents are required to attend one afternoon or evening of instruction when their children are preparing for this Sacrament. Parents play an important part in the instruction of their children.

Eucharist:

Parents assist in preparing their children for the reception of the Eucharist. During the child's preparation, parents will be required to attend one afternoon or evening class of instruction on the Sacrament.

Adults preparing to receive the Eucharist will attend the RCIA Process.

Children are instructed in Holy Family School and in our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) for the reception of Holy Communion.

Communion for the Sick:

Please notify the rectory if any sick parishioner wishes to receive Holy Communion at home. Priests and our Eucharist Ministers visit the homebound in the parish.

Penance:

Saturday: 3:30 - 4:30 P.M. Or by appointment with the parish Priest.

Children are instructed in Holy Family School and in our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) for the Sacrament of Penance. The parents also assist in providing instruction.  Parents are required to attend an instruction given during the preparation process.  They will be notified when the class will be presented.

Marriage:

This great sacrament of vocation is a very joyous time, but also a time of very serious spiritual preparation.  The Bishops of New Jersey have adopted a policy to assist in this preparation.  Attendance at Engaged Encounter, Pre-Cana, or another approved marriage preparation program; and individual sessions with a priest or deacon are required of all couples.  Couples should contact the Rectory one year in advance of the intended marriage, and before finalizing other details of the wedding.

If any parishioners are in a marriage that is not recognized by the Church, you can discuss your situation privately with one of the priests or sisters. It's possible that you could have your marriage reconciled with the Church.

Anointing of the Sick:

Once a year our parish has an Anointing Liturgy for those who are able to come to Church. This is usually during the month of October and will be announced in the Parish Bulletin.

This sacrament is given for those facing serious illness or surgery, and for those of advanced years.  If you or a family member is planning to enter the hospital, please see one of the priests following Mass if you would like to receive this sacrament.  In case of emergency call at any time 732-264-1484.
